The guestbook of Amsterdam is a Flash 4 application that is communicating with the server.
When it will be completely stable (it is not at the current moment) people living in Amsterdam are asked to present themselves by way of a 'bebot'.
They can give the bebot any expression to be able to express themselves to anyone in the world, even without words.
But they can let the bebot talk as well, of course. If someone is ready with giving the bebot a certain expression, he/she can save it to a textfile, to be seen to everyone.
Of course, people are encouraged to write about Amsterdam.
The textfiles can be read on a stabndalone computer, although you are not able to save new bebots on a computer that's offline.

Amsterdam is represented in the background as 'Amsterandom'. Every house is rendered differently, so everytime when you
visit another bebot, you'll have a differnt set of houses. People can drag the bebots around and add friends, They can also paint clouds.

Here are some screendumps to demonstrate how it works..
You first type in (a) your name. Every letter of the name creates a shape of a figure it will represent.
You have to type in 8 letters, that create 8 different shapes.
This way, there can be more different bebots than there are people living on this earth.
After you have typed 8 letters, you are asked to type its sex: M or F(V)
If you choose Female, your bebot will have a sex-change by way of an animation.
