With the passing of time and social interaction, the distinct lines separating one ethnic group from the other have blurred and diluted and their cultural practices seem to overlap, developing a sense of congruity.

As can be observed in most races and countries, a single race, whether Chinese, Malays or Indians each have their dialectical, regional differences in cultural practices and beliefs. What more in Singapore, where there are three such major ethnic groups! What a rich diverse variety that co-exists in a small island. In the past, the British allocated areas that were to be ethnic enclaves. This was to prevent any ethnic clashes, which was very likely. Till today, the Little India, Chinatown, Kampong Bugis, the Malay Village continue to be great sources of ethnic stuff. These come as highly recommended spots worth visiting.
