The Riesenrad ("Giant Wheel") is a main fixture of Vienna, much reproduced on tourist kitsch. My favorites are the little snow domes with a miniature copy of the wheel inside. The wheel itself rises to a height of 64 metres, and the construction is more Eiffel Tower than ferris wheel.

The wheel stands on the Würstprater, a fairground in connection with a larger park. Apart from the Riesenrad and a few beautiful old rides like the Geisterbahn, the Würstprater is filled with gaudy modern rides that pound cheap disco.
