While shopping at the Naschmarkt (a huge food and second-hand market in the 1st District), I found an old Kodak envelope. Inside were a series of photographs showing bombed-out ruins, of which some (or maybe all) are from post-war Vienna. The photographer's intention seems to have been one of documentation, as all the images are curiously devoid of emotion or life. Only in a few can people be seen going about their business, caught by the camera as so many ghosts.
